Custom Cedar Framed Wire Pool Fence
A 48-inch cedar and black welded-wire pool enclosure designed to meet the property's safety requirements without closing off the landscape the customer wanted to keep open and contemporary.
The enclosure stays present without taking over the view
Pool safety without turning the yard into a visual barrier
The customer wanted the pool enclosure to feel contemporary and deliberate, while keeping the backyard visually open. A solid privacy fence would have changed the character of the property; a custom cedar frame with black wire kept the enclosure defined without making it feel heavy.
Sunrise built the fence at 48 inches high with black vinyl-coated welded wire in a 1-inch by 1-inch grid. The gates open outward, away from the pool, and were fitted with the appropriate pool-safety latching hardware as part of an enclosure designed to meet pool code.
A contemporary pool fence built from natural materials
The contrast is what makes this design work. The cedar gives the enclosure warmth and enough visual weight to feel permanent, while the black 1-inch wire recedes into the background. From across the yard, the pool and mature trees remain part of the same view.
That balance also makes framed wire useful on properties where the homeowner wants something more architectural than a manufactured metal fence but does not want the visual mass of a solid cedar enclosure.
The safety details are part of the design, not an afterthought
This was designed as the pool barrier from the start. The 48-inch height, 1-inch wire openings, outward-opening gates and pool-safety latching hardware were coordinated as part of the enclosure rather than added after the fence style was chosen.
The result is a fence that does two jobs at once: it defines and secures the pool area while preserving the open, contemporary feel the customer was after.

What makes this enclosure different
- Custom cedar framing. Site-built wood construction gives the fence a warmer, more architectural presence than a standard manufactured pool fence.
- 1-inch black welded wire. Vinyl-coated wire keeps the infill visually quiet while maintaining the tight grid specified for this pool enclosure.
