Waterfront Pool & Perimeter Fencing in East Islip, NY

Two fence systems were used on this waterfront East Islip property: a removable mesh safety fence immediately around the swimming pool and aluminum estate-style fencing around the property perimeter and along the bulkhead. The result preserves views across the pool, landscaping and canal while giving each part of the property the type of enclosure it needed.

Two fence systems for one waterfront property

This East Islip project is a good example of why one fence style does not always need to solve every problem on a property.

Immediately around the swimming pool, we installed a Guardian removable mesh pool fence. Its dark, see-through mesh creates a defined barrier around the pool without visually closing off the water or the surrounding deck.

For the broader property perimeter, we installed aluminum estate-style fencing, including long runs along the waterfront and bulkhead. The aluminum provides a permanent architectural boundary while remaining open enough to preserve views of the canal, landscaping and neighboring waterfront.

The Challenge

Different areas of the property needed different types of enclosure

This waterfront property combines a swimming pool, large deck, mature landscaping, bulkhead and canal frontage. Using one fence style everywhere would have meant compromising either the appearance of the pool area or the character of the waterfront perimeter.

The project called for a close-in barrier at the pool and a more permanent fence around the property and waterfront edge, while keeping the overall setting visually open.

The Solution

The removable mesh system was installed directly around the swimming pool. Its narrow posts and dark mesh allow the pool and waterfront beyond it to remain visible through the enclosure.

Along the property perimeter and bulkhead, aluminum estate-style fencing creates a permanent boundary that works naturally with the landscaping and waterfront setting. The open picket design maintains sightlines toward the canal instead of creating a solid visual wall.

Together, the two systems perform different jobs without competing with one another visually.

Why It Worked Here

Safety, separation and waterfront views

The strongest feature of this project is not either fence by itself. It is how the two systems work together.

The Guardian fence defines the immediate pool area while remaining visually light. Farther out, the aluminum fence establishes the property's perimeter and follows the waterfront edge. From the deck and landscaped areas, views continue through both fence systems toward the canal.

For waterfront properties with several outdoor zones, combining fence types can provide a more thoughtful result than trying to make one system work everywhere.
