Cedar & Wire Garden Enclosure

A Garden Boundary Designed as Part of the Property

This Sagaponack garden needed meaningful protection without being visually closed off. Sunrise built an approximately 6-foot-tall cedar-framed wire enclosure around the planting area, using dark wire infill to keep the garden and surrounding landscape in view.

Paired arbor-topped gates give the enclosure a clear entrance, while the cedar framework creates rhythm and structure along the long fence lines. The result is functional deer protection that feels permanent, intentional and appropriate to the property.

Replace a temporary barrier without making the garden feel enclosed

The garden had been protected by a makeshift temporary barrier. It served an immediate purpose, but the property called for a lasting enclosure designed with the same care as the plantings and surrounding landscape.

The new boundary needed to help keep deer away from the garden while allowing long views through the enclosure from the lawn, paths and nearby outdoor spaces.

Give the enclosure structure, then let the wire recede

The cedar frame establishes the shape and scale of the enclosure. Dark wire mesh sits within that framework and becomes visually quiet against the garden, so the planting beds remain the focus.

At the entries, paired gates and simple overhead arbors turn necessary access points into intentional features. The enclosure now reads as part of the landscape design instead of an afterthought.
